Here for the Music

Laurie Brinklow @ The Old Triangle

It was so much fun to be one of the party celebrating Laurie Brinklow’s PEI launch of her first full-length collection of poetry Here for the Music (Acorn Press) on November 14. The Old Triangle had just put up its Christmas decorations, which chimed right in with so many women  wearing red to harmonize with Laurie!

The first poem in the collection is called “Pile Driver”. I made a short video (under 3 min) of Laurie reading it—take a look at it on YouTube by clicking here.

After the reading, there was a hilarious ukelele sing-along and good music from Mike Mooney and friends, with Laurie harmonizing. Did I forget to mention the awesome food? Through Acorn Press, Laurie published so many poets (including me!), so it’s great to see her own book of poetry finally appear now that Terrilee Bulger is at the helm of the press. Congratulations Acorn and Congratulations Laurie!
