Our Laurie Brinklow was pretty famous already but now she’s on the national news! She and Mike were interviewed for CTV news after tropical storm Rina went through the Mexican village where they are staying. Oh, walking on a white sand beach in November sure looks good! Take a look at the news clip here (there will be 2 commercials first—be patient—you don’t have to wait long). Laurie’s blog has more fabulous pictures from her time in Mexico and her comments on what is means to value “place” as well as provocative and fascinating questions brought up at the NorthAtlantic Forum 2011 that she just attended. And there is more to read in her just published essay at the Griffith Review on being an “islomaniac”, someone who finds islands “somehow irresistible”. Click here to read it. She is one busy smart gal! Keep out of the hurricane’s path, Laurie and come back to beloved PEI soon!
