poster - montague reading

A diverse group of readers: Jeff Bursey, Kathleen Hamilton, Beth E. Janzen, and Orysia Dawydiak will be reading at the Montague library on June 1st from 2 pm until 4 pm. The event is hosted by The Montague Library Writers Guild. There will be light refreshments and books for sale. I’m looking forward to it! This group (+ Steve Mayoff who unfortunately isn’t able to attend the Montague reading) read in Summerside last January, and had a great time. Prepare to be entertained!

I’m spending the winter in Moncton, and I’ve been incredibly fortunate. I connected with other writers right away (thanks to Lee Thompson) and am attending a poetry group one Wednesday and a fiction group the next Wednesday. Each small group meets at the cosy home of Kerry-Lee Powell, which happens to be a 20 minute walk from the house where I am house-sitting.

The poetry group is informally dubbed DGAP. The “D” stands for Dominion, which is the name of the street where Kerry-Lee lives. We had a reading on January 31st at the Cafe Aberdeen and it was a great evening. We had a good crowd and a good time! To see more pictures, head over to my blog by clicking this link.

The Attic, The Pearls & Three Fine Girls was performed with great success in last autumn. I was in awe of the actors and the production. Where else could I see Kathleen Hamilton do a backwards somersault holding a bottle?! Here are a couple of reviews of the show (1) ONRPEI and (2) The Buzz.

I was recently delighted to see this review by Mark Sampson of my book The Enchanted House (Acorn, 2006). Among other surprises (every reviewer picks up on different aspects of the book), it was nice to read his comments on my “shore-related poems”, as those have not been mentioned by previous reviewers. Take a look at his review by clicking here.
